Renovation Progress

March 2010

A design feature between bricks peculiar to Frank Lloyd Wright and used on at least two other buildings designed by the architect. This was discovered on the columns in the bank building long covered over by wall board.










Second floor of the bank building with all walls removed. This floor will be taken out, windows moved up and replaced with clerestory windows and bronze grates.










Original law office area with the wall between the bank and law office removed. Something not seen since about 1926.



Original bathroom tiles and wood trim salvaged and to be used in the restoration of the hotel.



February 2010

Rubber matting and plywood are laid down to cover the original tile floor in the lobby of the hotel. The tile floor will be one of the last pieces restored during construction.







 

Doors and windows original to the hotel are lined up and awaiting to be picked up by the restoration contractor.

 

 


















September 2009

Contractors from several states gathered at The Historic Park Inn Hotel on September 18 for a pre-construction meeting as bids were let on the hotel/bank project.

May 2009
Demolition work to the ceiling of the City National Bank building uncovered the original skylight in what was the board room of the bank, on the
south side of the building. The original art glass for the skylight has
been found and restored.

April 2009
Dave Randall, from Randall Construction Co. works on replacing stone on
the Ladies Parlor Balcony.


















These early advertising windows were revealed during recent demolition
in the City National Bank building.



















March 2009

Demolition begins in the first floor area of the City National Bank building. The drop-ceiling will be removed and some of the non-original columns taken out.
















Crews continue to work on demolition in the Park Inn Hotel. Workers clear debris from ceiling demolition in the west bay area which will be turned into a restaurant for the hotel.

















November 2008
Restoration work begins on the Ladies Parlor balcony. Metal flashing will be  replaced with appropriate stone work.



Art glass for the Park Inn Hotel lobby is undergoing restoration this winter.




September 2008
Demolition continues in the east bay of the Park Inn Hotel.




January 2008
The mezzanine balcony is installed in the lobby of the Park Inn Hotel.
